China's fourth-largest state-owned automaker has a tradition with military vehicles, but also relies on luxury cars and electric compacts
Dongfeng is the fourth largest state-owned car manufacturer in China and has its bags ready for Brazil. This was confirmed through a publication on the social network LinkedIn by the company’s new Head of Sales and Dealership Development.
This is the same executive who worked on the establishment of GWM and Omoda & Jaecoo, two Chinese brands that arrived with good results. He promises a structured arrival with a long-term vision.

Like GWM, Dongfeng is a large group with several divisions. In China, it has joint ventures with Nissan, Renault, Citroën, Peugeot and Honda. The Nissan Frontier Pro that will be sold in Brazil and the Renault Kwid E-Tech are joint projects with this Chinese one.
It is present in Europe with a focus on the luxury brand Voyah, which is focused on electric cars. It also has the Forthing, with a more generalist appeal.
Another division that may reach Brazil is Nammi, which makes entry-level electric cars. The 01 is a rival of the Geely EX2, while the 06 has the size of the EX5.

Dongfeng is famous for producing military vehicles for the People’s Army of China. The brand that bears his name has models such as the Warrior and the Mengshi for this purpose.
The M-Hero division sells more luxurious versions of these military vehicles, such as the 917. This model went viral due to its door panel, which emulates the design of a Colt 1911 pistol.
In China, it is also strong in the production of trucks and vans. These segments are more focused on Asian markets and are not part of the list of vehicles that Dongfeng exports globally.
