Chevrolet has unveiled the first photo of the Sonic’s interior. The panel design is very similar to that of the Onix, but brings improvements in finish to justify the positioning in the range.

However, with these photos, it is also possible to notice that Sonic will bring new ADAS features to the national range. On the steering wheel of the car is the button for the lane centering assistant, an item that does not exist in the current national line.

In the official press release, General Motors says that the car will come equipped with Chevrolet Intelligent Driving, the name given to the most complete ADAS package used in imported models and electric ones. This indicates that in addition to lane centering, the Sonic will also have adaptive cruise control, more comprehensive autonomous braking (Tracker and Spin have this function only at low speeds) and lane keeping assistant.

The steering wheel also has the new Chevrolet emblem, hollowed out in the center and narrower. The model shown is the RS, which has red stitching on the leather covering.

Although the panel design is the same as the Onix, in the Sonic it has a strip above the glove compartment covered in vinyl and with contrasting stitching. The same occurs in the front door panels, which have a coated strip next to the handle where in the hatch it is plastic.

These solutions already exist in rivals Fiat Pulse and Volkswagen Tera. It’s not a soft-touch like the one seen in medium cars, but it breaks the pattern of being all plastic as we see in compacts of the last two decades.

Chevrolet’s statement was focused on the line of accessories that was developed for the new Sonic. The entry-level SUV will already arrive at dealerships with some options and customization. Here are some of them:

  • LED interior lighting with configurable colors;
  • sports pedalboards;
  • custom sills;
  • red appliqués for the wheels and bumpers;
  • adhesive strips;
  • lateral rubbers;
  • Sport exhaust tip.

The launch of the new Chevrolet Sonic will be in early May, where we will know more complete information about the car.
