iFood and Caixa Econômica Federal announced, on Tuesday (4), a partnership that allows delivery workers to finance zero-kilometer motorcycles and electric bicycles with reduced interest rates and a new proof of income model, based on the earnings history recorded on the delivery platform itself.

According to the companies, eligible workers now have a direct remote channel with the bank, called MoveIfood, to apply for credit of up to R$ 30 thousand. The entire process can be conducted digitally, without the need to go to a branch.

Delivery history instead of paycheck

The central change is in credit analysis. By authorizing data sharing, the delivery person allows iFood to send Caixa the earnings history and the level of engagement accumulated in the application. These records start to serve as the basis for the bank’s evaluation.

According to iFood, the measure seeks to reduce one of the main barriers faced by digital platform professionals in contracting long-term financing: the difficulty of proving financial capacity through traditional models, designed for those with a formal contract.

“By transforming the experience and data of these professionals into a bridge to credit, we help overcome a historical barrier,” said Luana Ozemela, vice president of Impact and Sustainability at the company. The company points out, however, that Caixa is solely responsible for defining the criteria, analyzing the credit, approving the proposals and formalizing the contracts.

Conditions follow the rules of Move Brasil

The agreement is based on the credit line that Caixa opened on July 27 under Move Brasil, a federal government program aimed at delivery workers, motorcycle couriers and motorcycle taxi drivers. In this modality, the financing covers up to 100% of the value of new vehicles of up to R$ 30 thousand, with a term of 48 months and a grace period of two months to start payment.

The rates are 0.90% per month for women and 0.97% per month for men. To hire, you must have a valid category A National Driver’s License (in the case of motorcycles), prove at least six months of work on the same platform and record a minimum of 100 rides. In this first phase, the program includes 14 models and versions produced in Brazil by Honda, Yamaha and Vammo, including motorcycles of up to 160 cc, scooters, mopeds and electric options.

The partnership also provides for a financial education front. iFood and Caixa will provide content with guidance on planning, conscious use of credit and budget management, in addition to step-by-step instructions to reach specialized service.

The initial service can be done through WhatsApp. The eligibility rules are detailed on the Delivery Man Portal.
