In partnership with the movie Supergirl, Uber releases free upgrades from UberX to Comfort or Black until June 28 nationwide
“It’s a bird! It’s an airplane!” The answer, this time, is Uber: the mobility company announced a national campaign, in partnership with the movie Supergirl, which offers free category upgrades to users on their way to the cinema or with a history of going to theaters. The action, called “Super Upgrade”, is available until June 28 and, according to the company, marks the first time that the platform applies this type of courtesy in real time.
In practice, when requesting a car through the app, the eligible passenger can be surprised with the instant change of category: from UberX to Comfort or Black, or from Comfort to Black. The change occurs at the time of the trip request, without prior request, and uses Uber Advertising’s targeting features to identify who is going to or frequenting movie theaters.

The initiative associates everyday commuting with the release of the feature and works as a showcase for Uber’s advertising arm, which bets on geolocation data and its own formats to connect brands to consumers at specific times. ”
The film that serves as the backdrop is a DC Studios production distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, scheduled to premiere on June 25. Directed by Craig Gillespie, from a screenplay by Ana Nogueira, the feature features Milly Alcock in the dual role of Supergirl and Kara Zor-El, on an interstellar journey of revenge and justice. The cast also includes Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham and Jason Momoa, produced by Peter Safran and James Gunn, at the head of DC Studios. The plot, based on DC characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, will be playing in theaters around the world during the summer break.
The campaign window coincides with the June and July holidays, a period in which the demand for cinemas usually grows. The benefit is valid only during the action and is subject to the dynamics of using the application.
