Volvo anticipates the centenary with special trucks ranging from diesel to 734 hp electric

Volvo Trucks has opened orders for the 100 Year Edition, the commemorative series that anticipates the centenary of the Swedish brand, celebrated in 2027. Contrary to what the name suggests, it is not a single model: the special configuration can be ordered in the FH Aero, FH, FH16 Aero and FH16 trucks, in most of the engine and chassis combinations available, which includes diesel, gas and electric versions. Among them is the FH16 Electric, capable of delivering up to 734 hp.

The series comes after a round of updates to the three types of propulsion in the manufacturer’s heavy line and evaluations by Euro NCAP, a program that started testing trucks and in which several configurations of the FH Aero and FH added five stars.

Brown leather, projected light and timeline on the curtains

On the outside, the 100 Year Edition features two-tone paint with decorative stripes. Inside, the seat gains a leather-covered base, gray fabric on top and embroidered with the centennial symbol. Brown leather details follow the tone of the exterior stripes, and the floor is covered thicker in black and gray.

The package also includes illuminated sills and LED strips on the console, which alternate the ambient lighting between red and white. When opening the door, a welcome light projects the symbol of the edition on the floor. The same graphic appears on the speaker grilles, made in 3D printing, and the sleeper cab curtains bring a timeline with striking models from the history of Volvo Trucks.

According to Jonathan Disley, Volvo Trucks’ design director, the project was inspired by the company’s Swedish heritage and the relationship built with customers over decades.

Electric with 734 hp and recharge in one hour

Under the commemorative decorations, the mechanics are the same as the current line. In the electric version, the electric axles deliver up to 734 peak hp, powered by a 360 kWh battery. There are also configurations with up to 780 kWh.

With the 360 kWh package, Volvo claims that the range can reach 400 km and that the battery goes from 20% to 80% in about an hour on a 350 kW charger. According to the manufacturer, the interval allows you to recover charge during mandatory breaks, shift changes or charging the semi-trailer.

Jan Hjelmgren, head of product management at Volvo Trucks, says the series represents the highest point of the company’s cumulative development in a century, with gains in safety, driver comfort, productivity and energy efficiency.

The 100 Year Edition joins other special series of the brand, such as the FH 25 Year Special Edition, the FH Aero Euro NCAP Special Edition and the Ocean Race Limited Edition. Volvo did not disclose prices or say whether the version will be offered in Brazil, where it produces the FH at the Curitiba (PR) plant.
