Toyota Land Cruiser with 999.999 km is for sale and it will be up to the new owner to hit the 1 million mark
Utility vehicle has driven more than 180 km per day for 15 years and maintains a 4.5 biturbo V8 engine and factory gearbox; auction ends in the next few days

A 2009 Toyota Land Cruiser 200 Series Sahara is for sale at an online auction in Australia marking 999,999 km on the odometer — and still with the engine and gearbox that left the factory. The last mile to the 1 million mark was left on purpose for the next owner.
The utility is owned by Gary Driscoll, a cattle and farm trader in Nhill, in western Victoria. The bids were opened on August 3 on AuctionsPlus, a platform specializing in agricultural machinery and business, and the dispute should continue for about two weeks. The announcement informs that the SUV is sold without warranty, with a safety certificate on delivery, scheduled between August 20 and 23 at the Horsham Toyota dealership.
Driscoll told Australian broadcaster ABC that he does not know how much the car is worth and that the price will be set by interested parties, but believes it should exceed 30 thousand Australian dollars (about R$ 108 thousand). For comparison, a 2009 200 Series with typical mileage in the region, between 250 thousand and 400 thousand km, is usually traded in the country between 30 thousand and 45 thousand Australian dollars (R$ 108 thousand to R$ 162 thousand).
More than 180 km per day for 15 years
Driscoll bought the zero-kilometer Land Cruiser in April 2010 and spent the next 15 years driving between rural properties and highways in western Victoria. The average was more than 180 km per day, a pace that explains how the utility approached the seven figures on the dashboard.
The car went out of circulation in November 2025, when the owner retired and decided to retire the vehicle with him. He arrived at the Horsham Toyota dealership with 999.968 km and made one last lap of the Western Highway until the odometer registered 999.999 km. Since then, he has not walked.
What differentiates this example from other work vehicles with high mileage is precisely the mechanical set. The 4.5 biturbo diesel V8, with 265 hp and 66,3 kgfm in factory data, and the six-speed automatic transmission remain the originals. According to Horsham Toyota, there were about 100 revisions throughout the car’s life, one every 10 km. The most relevant change recorded was that of the starter motor, at 973 thousand km.
There remains a question that only the new owner can answer: what happens on the panel after the million. The digital odometer can reset the count or stop at 999,999 km, as happened with Toyota models from the early 2000s that stopped at 299,999 km. According to the auction announcement, there are about 500 meters left for the answer to appear.
