Seres, Huawei’s Chinese automotive partner group, is preparing to launch a new electric car brand under the umbrella of the newly created Saidou Technology. The project gains weight in the competitive Asian market because it is born from a direct technological collaboration with Volcano Engine, the corporate cloud computing and artificial intelligence arm of ByteDance, the giant parent company of the TikTok app.

Billionaire restructuring

The emergence of the new brand is the result of a profound reformulation of the loss-making Landian line. In May, the subsidiary was officially renamed and capitalized with a massive investment of 6.67 billion yuan (approximately R$ 4.8 billion). The amount was injected by government funds and a division of CATL, the world’s largest battery maker.

With this robust financial restructuring, Seres strategically diluted its stake to 32.96%. The corporate maneuver allowed the automaker to optimize its assets and clear from its main balance sheet an operation that until then had generated consecutive losses.

The crossover with TikTok technology

Sources linked to the supply chain indicate that Saidou’s first vehicle will debut on the market in the second half of this year. The model will be a crossover manufactured in the Seres industrial complex, offered both with a 100% electric engine and in a hybrid configuration with autonomy extender (EREV).

The great commercial trump card, however, will be inside the cabin. Unlike sister brand Aito, which uses Huawei’s ecosystem, Saidou will bet on a digital dashboard guided by the advanced language models of the Volcano Engine. The owner of TikTok will provide all the artificial intelligence for voice and interactivity features, although it has ruled out the development of autonomous driving systems.

With a high level of connectivity on board, Saidou’s central focus will be to capture young Generation Z consumers. Backed by a strong cash flow, Seres surfs at a time of operational records: in May 2026 alone, the automaker sold more than 33 thousand vehicles, accumulating 145,108 registrations in the year and cementing its growth in the energy transition.
