Nissan Rogue Hybrid debuts in the US with e-Power system and 228 hp

Nissan presented the Rogue Hybrid 2027, the brand’s first model with the e-Power system sold in the United States. Despite the name, the SUV is not a conventional hybrid: the wheels are powered only by electric motors, and the combustion engine works exclusively as an energy generator, an arrangement that the industry itself classifies as an extended-range electric.

The set has a 1.5 turbo three-cylinder engine with 150 hp, developed just for this function and with 42% thermal efficiency, according to Nissan. It supplies a 1.67 kWh lithium-ion battery, which powers two electric motors — 205 hp and 33.6 kgfm on the front axle, 136 hp and 19.9 kgfm on the rear.

The combined power of the system is 228 hp, and all-wheel drive is standard on all versions, with no drive shaft connecting the two ends of the car.

itself The efficiency numbers have not yet passed the EPA, the American environmental agency. In internal tests with the SR version, Nissan estimates 16,2 km/l in the combined average, with 17 km/l in the city and 15,3 km/l on the highway. The brand also reports a towing capacity of 680 kg.

Visually, the utility features cleaner lines than the previous generation, with a honeycomb grille integrated into the LED headlights. Inside, two 12.3″ screens with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come out of the factory, which reach 14.3″ in the most expensive versions.

Sales in the United States start in the second half of the year, with only the SR version with Technology package, at US$ 43.065 (about R$ 220 thousand). The others arrive at dealerships in early 2027, with the entry-level SV at US$ 37.065 (approximately R$ 189 thousand) and the top-of-the-line Platinum at US$ 45.065 (around R$ 230 thousand).

The technology arrives in Brazil through the X-Trail

The e-Power technology has existed since 2017 in other markets, but has never been sold in Brazil. Nissan has been considering bringing the system to the country since 2016 and has even studied the production of the hybrid Kicks in Resende (RJ), a project postponed successively while BYD and GWM occupied the space of the electrified ones.

The local debut should take place with the X-Trail, the global brother of the Rogue, confirmed by the automaker for the end of this year. In the SUV, the 1.5 turbo engine acts as a generator for a 1.97 kWh battery, with two electric motors that deliver up to 213 hp and 25.5 kgfm. The Kicks e-Power, in turn, remains without a date for the Brazilian market.
