New Ranger Rover GT will be the cheapest in the family and will have an electric version from the debut

The Range Rover family will gain a new member — and it is very different from everything the brand has ever done. This Wednesday (22), Land Rover presented a preview of the Range Rover GT, the fifth member of the line and the brand’s first all-electric model. Still covered in camouflage, the car will have its full debut by the end of 2026, and should hit the market throughout 2027.

Instead of the tall format of the SUVs that consecrated the brand, the Range Rover GT bets on a low, elongated silhouette with coupe proportions. The automaker defines it as a grand tourer: designed to travel long distances with comfort and performance, without giving up off-road capability. It is, according to the manufacturer, the most similar Range Rover to a passenger car ever created.

For the first time, the brand also revealed the interior of the novelty. The cabin swaps the traditional instrument panel for a display for the driver and a single screen, with a hidden air vent that crosses the entire dashboard. The woven fabric upholstery even disguises the speakers, and the brand says it offers best-in-class legroom in the second row.

Electric now, hybrid later

The GT is the first Range Rover on the new EMA platform, developed for Jaguar Land Rover’s (JLR) upcoming electric cars and produced in Halewood, UK. It debuts exclusively as 100% electric (BEV), but the manufacturer has already confirmed a hybrid version later on. Despite resembling the Velar in proportions, it does not replace any current model — it is an entirely new car.

“The Range Rover GT will redefine the grand tourer segment by combining the elegance, proportions and refinement characteristic of this type of vehicle on long journeys with capabilities that no conventional grand tourer can offer,” said Martin Limpert, Range Rover managing director.

While the GT does not arrive, the Range Rover line currently consists of four models, all available in Brazil with electrified options:

• Range Rover Evoque — the brand’s compact luxury SUV and gateway, with a 2.0 turbo flex engine of about 250 hp. It starts at R$ 419.990.
• Range Rover Velar — Medium SUV with a minimalist design and the only one in the line offered as a plug-in hybrid in the country, with a combined 404 hp. Part of R$ 773,069.
• Range Rover Sport — the brand’s sportiest reading, with engines ranging from diesel to high-output plug-in hybrid. Part of R$ 1,263,050.
• Range Rover — Range Rover’s top-of-the-line size, luxury and price, always with a 550 hp plug-in hybrid set. Part of R$ 1,773,950.
• Range Rover SV – the even more exclusive version of the Range Rover, produced by the Special Vehicle Operations division, with maximum customisation and bespoke finishing. Part of R$ 2,137,950.

The entire family is already sold with a hybrid option, and the brand promises all-electric versions of all models before 2030. The WG is the spearhead of this transition, and more details will be released throughout this year.
