New Nissan Pixo is electric compact sister of Renault Twingo

Nissan presented on Wednesday (23) the Pixo, an electric compact that resumes an old name of the brand and now occupies the entry position of the European range, below the Micra. The model is the factory brother of the Renault Twingo, with whom it shares a platform, battery, engine and assembly line.

Unlike the first generation – which was essentially a Suzuki Alto imported from India – the new Pixo was born from the industrial partnership between Nissan and Renault in Europe and shares the base with the Twingo and the new Dacia Spring. Production will be done at Renault’s plant in Novo Mesto, Slovenia, where the three leave the same line.

In visual terms, the Japanese brand sought to give the model its own personality, with a squarer silhouette, pixelated graphics headlights and taillights and a bumper set that Nissan itself describes as a “robot face”. The side profile, however, still delivers the French heritage. At 3.80 m long, the Pixo is 11 cm shorter than the Micra and has a turning circle of 9.9 m, the same as the Twingo.

LFP battery and fast charging as standard

Under the bodywork, the set employs a 27.5 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery — the first of its kind in a Nissan in Europe. The system guarantees a range of up to 259 km through the WLTP cycle. Direct current charging of up to 50 kW replenishes from 15% to 80% in about 28 minutes, and the 11 kW alternating current charger accepts bidirectional flow. Unlike Renault, which charges separately for the fast charging package, Nissan offers the standard item in all versions.

The front electric motor delivers a modest 82 hp and 17,8 kgfm, enough to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 12,1 seconds and reach a top speed of 130 km/h.

Shared interior and open

price Inside, the finish and layout of the controls closely refer to the platform brothers, with sliding and folding rear seats — in the most advanced position, the trunk reaches 356 liters. The cabin combines physical controls for everyday functions and a 10.1-inch screen with Google’s operating system, which brings together Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and the Gemini assistant.

Deliveries in Europe begin in early 2027, and the car will be exhibited at the Brussels Motor Show in January. Nissan will only disclose prices in December. The closest reference is the Twingo, which starts at 19,990 euros (about R$ 119 thousand) in Germany — a level that the Japanese automaker needs to match or pierce to justify the existence of the Pixo.
