GMC announced the 2027 Hummer EV lineup with a special edition called Icon 25 (officially spelled as “ICON | 25”), created to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Hummer name. Those who lived through the early 2000s remember the impact of the Hummer H2, presented at the 2002 Los Angeles Motor Show: with exaggerated proportions and the characteristic shade of yellow, the utility became a symbol of an era — and it is precisely this heritage that the anniversary series rescues.
Available in both pickup and SUV bodies, and offered in 2X or 3X versions, the Icon 25 has as its main highlight the yellow paint inspired by the original H2 — a color called, not by chance, “ICON”. The look is complemented by a black bumper front shield, which contrasts with the Jet Black-themed interior.

To reinforce exclusivity, each unit features a numbered plate on the dashboard, specific animations in the multimedia system alluding to classic Hummer and a commemorative collectible. GMC did not confirm the production volume; images of the numbered plate suggest a print run of 250 copies, without it being clear if the number applies to pickup and SUV added or separately.

In addition to the nostalgic aesthetics, the 2027 line of the electric Hummer brings functional novelties. The main one is the adoption of Tesla’s NACS charging standard, standard across the range — which gives direct access to the Supercharger network without an adapter. The brand also maintained bidirectional charging, which allows the vehicle to function as a home battery in power outages, as long as it is combined with the PowerShift charger and GM Energy’s V2H kit. The model year also debuts five new colors (including ICON) and two new 22″ wheel designs.

In the field of off-road capability, the Hummer EV maintains the wheels with rear-wheel steering with CrabWalk and King Crab modes, the Air Ride adaptive suspension and the Extract Mode, which raises the body by about 15 cm to overcome obstacles. Also available are the semi-autonomous Super Cruise pilot, the Infinity roof with removable panels and up to 18 camera angles in the pickup. At the top of the line, the 3X pickup can reach, according to GM estimates, 1,176 hp, with acceleration from 0 to 96 km/h in just 2.8 seconds when equipped with the optional 24-module battery.
Production of the Icon 25 and the 2027 line begins later this year at the Factory ZERO plant in Detroit and Hamtramck, and the model will be sold in the United States and Canada. Prices should only be revealed near the start of production. The commemorative edition arrives, however, at a delicate time: Hummer EV sales fell by about 55% in the first half of 2026 compared to the same period of the previous year, amid cooling demand for high-value electric pickup trucks in the United States.
