Fifth-generation sedan debuts efficiency-oriented platform with 760 km range and 800-volt architecture for ultra-fast recharges
Mercedes-Benz has presented the new generation of the C-Class worldwide, which marks a turning point in the German automaker’s electrification strategy. For the first time offered with 100% electric propulsion, the sedan symbolizes the end of the EQ sub-brand. Under the new nomenclature C400 4Matic Electric, the model establishes the identification standard that will be extended to the Stuttgart-based manufacturer’s next launches.
Mounted on the MB platform. EA-M, the new sedan delivers performance numbers consistent with the luxury segment. The debut variant offers 490 hp and 60.2 kgfm, allowing acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds. Energy efficiency is guaranteed by a 94.5 kWh battery, which projects a range of up to 760 km in the European cycle. The mechanical assembly is differentiated by the use of a two-speed transmission on the rear axle, a solution that optimizes consumption in cruising and breath in retakes.

Recharging technology is another pillar of the project. Thanks to the 800-volt electrical architecture, the C400 supports powers of up to 330 kW in direct current. In practice, the system is capable of recovering 320 km of range in about 10 minutes of connection. Inside, the cabin is dominated by the MBUX Hyperscreen, a glass surface that houses three digital displays. The operating system now integrates generative artificial intelligence, including native support for ChatGPT-4o and Google Gemini.

Visually, the C-Class adopts a coupe-inspired silhouette, resulting in a drag coefficient of 0.22. The design mixes historical elements, such as the illuminated grille that refers to the classic W111, with modernisms such as the LED signature with star graphics. With a wheelbase expanded to 2.96 m, the sedan prioritizes interior comfort and offers cargo versatility: there are 470 liters in the conventional trunk and an additional 101 liters under the front hood.
Although sales in Europe will start soon, Mercedes-Benz has not yet confirmed the schedule for the Brazilian market. Currently, the combustion generation of the C-Class is sold in the country with prices starting at R$ 396,900.
