BMW presented the fifth generation of the X5, in a model that marks a new phase for one of the brand’s most important SUVs. With a look in line with the Neue Klasse identity, a completely redesigned cabin and an unprecedented range of five engine options, the utility debuts, for the first time, a fully electric version.
Manufactured at the Spartanburg plant in the United States, the new X5 maintains practically the same dimensions as its predecessor, but received a larger wheelbase, which expands the space for rear passengers. The look features narrower double grilles, headlights with a new “X” shaped light signature, interconnected taillights and door handles replaced by touch-sensitive sensors integrated into the columns.

The cabin has been redesigned and now has BMW Panoramic iDrive, which projects the main information at the base of the windshield. The 17.9″ multimedia center can be complemented by a 14.6″ passenger screen and incorporates an assistant with artificial intelligence, customizable ambient lighting and new finishes, such as slate and glass options.
The main novelty is the unprecedented iX5 60 xDrive, the 100% electric variant. The version is equipped with two electric motors that deliver 578 hp and 82.1 kgfm of torque, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in about 4.4 seconds and offers, according to BMW, up to 845 km of range in the WLTP cycle. The 800-volt electrical architecture, powered by a 141 kWh battery, supports recharges of up to 460 kW, which allows it to replenish 10% to 80% of the charge in about 23 minutes.

The line also includes the X5 40 and X5 40 xDrive versions, equipped with the 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine updated to 400 hp and 59,1 kgfm, in addition to the X5 50e xDrive plug-in hybrid, which combines this engine with an electric motor to deliver 490 hp and 71,4 kgfm, with an estimated electric range of 71 km.
In addition to these configurations, BMW has confirmed diesel versions, a high-performance variant with a V8 engine and a hydrogen-powered model for specific markets.
In the United States, the X5 2027 starts at R$ 360,8 (US$ 69,800) in the entry-level version, while the plug-in hybrid costs from R$ 400,7 (US$ 77,500) and the unprecedented iX5 60 xDrive has a starting price of R$ 412,6 (US$ 79,800). Sales start in October, with the arrival of the gasoline version; The electric and hybrid variants are for the first quarter of 2027. There is no forecast for when the new generation of the X5 will arrive in Brazil.
