Marcopolo is back in the European road bus market. The Brazilian manufacturer and Volvo Buses present this Tuesday (22), in Madrid (Spain), the bus that resulted from the partnership between the two companies: the Paradiso G8 body mounted on the Volvo B13R chassis, produced in Sweden. The model already has orders closed in France, Italy and Portugal, with the first deliveries scheduled for early 2027.

The strategic partnership was announced in October 2025, initially aimed at customers in France and Italy, and what now arrives at the fair is the production version of the vehicle. Developed for long-distance and touring operations, the bus will be offered in 4×2 and 6×2 configurations, with an initial focus on southern Europe.

Paradiso G8 adapted to European

standards The bodywork is not the same as that sold in Latin America. According to Marcopolo, the European version received a structural weight reduction, aerodynamic adjustments to reduce consumption and the incorporation of components from suppliers on the continent, in addition to the homologation adjustments required by the local market. The commercial argument is the total cost of ownership.

Rodrigo Bisi, Marcopolo’s commercial operations manager for Europe, says that product validation began at Busworld 2025 and went through dynamic demonstrations in the three countries where the first sales were closed. The model is also among the finalists for the Sustainable Bus Award 2027, whose winners will be announced during the FIAA itself.

Thomas Nylund, director of Volvo Buses in Europe, maintains that the partnership brings together Volvo’s chassis technology, fuel efficiency and safety with Marcopolo’s design, comfort and experience in bodies. Buyers will have access to the Swedish automaker’s service and after-sales network in the region.

Volvo takes over sales in Italy and France

The commercial division was agreed on a country-by-country basis. In Italy and France, Volvo Buses is fully responsible for the marketing of the complete vehicle, including technical and after-sales support, through its dealership network. In Spain and Portugal, responsibility is divided between the two companies. Other European markets may be incorporated at a later date.

Headquartered in Caxias do Sul (RS), Marcopolo completed 77 years and is one of the largest independent manufacturers of car bodies in the world, with industrial units in eight countries, more than 15,500 employees and capacity to produce up to 120 units per day. The company has already delivered more than 500 thousand vehicles to about 140 countries.
