Lepas has taken another step towards its debut in the Brazilian market. The new brand of the Chery group, which will join Omoda Jaecoo and Jetour in the manufacturer’s portfolio in the country, should soon receive the first prototypes for homologation and adaptation tests for the domestic market.

The arrival of the vehicles will allow the final adjustments to be made before the commercial launch, including suspension and steering calibrations, in addition to the adaptation of the engines to Brazilian gasoline, which has a higher percentage of ethanol. Despite the progress of the operation, there is still no definition of the start date of sales or which models will be sold initially.

In Brazil, the operation should be under the responsibility of Omoda Jaecoo, unlike Jetour, which started its activities independently. Indications of this movement include job vacancies recently opened by Omoda Jaecoo for areas such as network development, product, training, sales, purchasing and brand management, reinforcing preparations for the arrival of the new manufacturer.

The expectation is that the brand will bring its complete line of SUVs. The top of the range is the L8, equipped with a plug-in hybrid engine and an electric range of up to 107 km, in addition to a combined range of close to 1,300 km.

The L6 will be positioned below and will have plug-in hybrid and all-electric versions. The electric configuration promises up to 435 km of range through the WLTP cycle, while the hybrid exceeds 1,100 km of combined range.

The L4 will be the brand’s gateway. The SUV is offered in different markets with combustion engines and also in an electric version, expanding the possibilities for the future Brazilian range.
