Leapmotor has started selling in Brazil an adapter that transforms its cars into a portable socket. Developed by Mopar, Stellantis’ accessories division, the V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) device uses the energy of the traction battery to power external electrical appliances and is already available at the brand’s dealerships across the country.

The use is direct: the adapter is connected to the vehicle’s power interface and the equipment is connected to the accessory’s socket, with automatic activation of the function. The system provides 230 V in single-phase alternating current, with a frequency of 50 to 60 Hz, and delivers up to 3,300 W and 15 A. According to the manufacturer, this ranges from cell phones, notebooks, Wi-Fi modems , projectors and sound equipment to items of higher consumption, such as electric stoves, refrigerators or hair dryers.

The output voltage requires attention. As the adapter works at 230 V, appliances that operate exclusively at 110 V — or at 127 V, a residential standard in much of the Brazilian territory — can only be connected with a transformer sized for the power of the equipment.

Auto-lock at 20% battery

To preserve the battery pack, the supply is interrupted when the charge reaches 20% or the level defined by the driver in the multimedia center. Leapmotor informs that the system still operates with time, consumption and discharge limits, and may cut the power if it identifies a condition outside the expected parameters.

According to the automaker, the accessory underwent performance tests aimed at Latin America, which considered different levels of consumption, temperature variations, interruptions of operation and deformations in different socket patterns. The technical report validated stable operation under the conditions evaluated, including under direct sun. The recommendation is to keep the car in a safe and ventilated place and avoid contact of the adapter with water or moisture.

There are specific versions for the main plug standards in the region: Type N in Brazil, Type I in Argentina, Type F in Chile and Type B in Colombia. The brand advises not to use damaged equipment, without a clear indication of power, out-of-specification extensions or improvised adapters.

Compatible with the entire range

The adapter works on all models sold by Leapmotor in the country: the electric B10 and C10 and the ultra-hybrid C10, which uses REEV technology, in which the combustion engine acts only as a generator for the battery. The feature is not exclusive to the Chinese brand: BYD, GWM and Geely already offer a similar function in electrified vehicles sold in Brazil, in some cases by socket integrated into the vehicle itself.

The launch is accompanied by the arrival of rubber mats to the accessories catalog, which already includes anti-theft screws for the wheels, wallbox, organizer box, volumetric alarm and portable charger. When purchasing the vehicle, these items and service contracts can be included in the financing up to a limit of 10% of the financed amount, with the same rate applied to the car, at participating dealerships. The company did not disclose the price of the adapter.
