Jaguar Type 01 has a cabin divided into four and no giant screen

Center spine cuts the cabin from end to end, divides the car into four isolated seats and eliminates the one-piece rear seat

Jaguar has released the first images of the interior of the Type 01, the four-door electric GT that opens the new phase of the British brand. Instead of the large, integrated saloon that has become standard on luxury electric cars, the cabin is divided into four individual spaces by a central spine that runs from end to end of the car.

The structure was finished inspired by brass, which extends from the top of the doors in elongated inserts with the graphics of Leaper, the feline symbol of the brand. As the spine also crosses the second row, the one-piece rear seat ceases to exist and gives way to two separate seats. The driving position is low, with the cabin enclosed around the driver.

According to Jaguar, the intention was to counter the horizontal design prevalent in current interiors and highlight the longitudinal proportion of the car. “The Type 01 is the first production car to follow our new creative philosophy,” said Rawdon Glover, the brand’s general director, in a statement.

The dashboard is thin and almost empty: there is a screen dedicated to the driver and a central display reserved for essential commands, such as air conditioning. Controls and compartments are hidden until triggered. Still, the Type 01 does not abandon the physical control, and there are buttons on the steering wheel and door panels.

The conventional interior mirror is also gone. Instead, a screen of the ClearSight system is in the center, at the base of the windshield, at the same height as the external mirrors, a position that the manufacturer justifies as a way to keep the driver’s attention on the road. At the base of the windshield there is also a graphic that the brand calls strikethrough, created to give the impression that the hood advances into the dashboard.

In terms of materials, the travertine stone of the Type 00 concept has become a palette of tones and textures, and the seats use handmade-looking fabrics. The roof is glass and covers the entire length of the cabin.

The name sums up the project: Type refers to the classics of the house, zero indicates the absence of emissions in the exhaust and the number 1 marks the first car of the new era. The model uses the JEA platform, tailor-made for electric vehicles, is produced in the United Kingdom, is about 5,2 m long and should cost from R$ 699 thousand (100 thousand pounds).

The mechanical set, however, remains confidential until October. Information not confirmed by the manufacturer points to three engines, more than 1,000 hp and more than 132 kgfm of torque, in addition to a range of up to 770 km in the WLTP cycle and 800 V architecture capable of recovering 321 km in 15 minutes.

Prior to the premiere, a camouflaged prototype will be on display at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on Sept. 16 during Monterey Car Week. The production version will be unveiled in New York on October 6, and deliveries are expected in the first half of 2027.
