Jaecoo, the more refined utility division of China’s Omoda & Jaecoo, has set the schedule for the debut of its second model in Brazil. The Jaecoo 5 compact SUV is expected to land in the domestic market in July, positioned as an electrified alternative to face segment leaders such as Hyundai Creta and Volkswagen T-Cross. The price estimate is between R$ 150 thousand and R$ 160 thousand.

The model will be positioned below the Omoda 5 in the brand’s hierarchy. Initially, the strategy foresees the offer of two versions equipped with a full hybrid system (HEV), which does not require external charging. The goal is to offer a competitive gateway into the world of electrified, maintaining values close to those of the intermediate and top-of-the-line versions of competitors powered only by combustion.

The Jaecoo 5’s mechanical set combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with an electric powertrain, generating 224 hp and 30,6 kgfm. Alone, the thermal engine delivers 135 hp and 20.4 kgfm, while the electric unit provides 203 hp, acting in an integrated way to prioritize energy efficiency. Although the launch will only take place with a gasoline engine, the brand is studying the adoption of flex technology in a second moment.

Based on the same platform as the Omoda 5, the SUV adopts a sober design, marked by straight lines and a robust look. With a length of 4.38 m and a wheelbase of 2.62 m, the utility offers a trunk of 480 liters, a volume that puts it on par with the references in the category.

The technological package includes standard items such as 18″ wheels, full LED lighting, panoramic sunroof and sound system signed by Sony. The cabin features a digital panel, seats with ventilation and massage, as well as a complete set of driving assistants (ADAS). The brand’s offensive in the country should be reinforced in 2025 with the launch of Omoda 4.
