Model follows the traditional formula of having only a combustion engine, just like rival compatriot GAC GS3
AutoPapo met Geely cars in China that are not sold in Brazil. One that caught our attention was the Coolray, a compact SUV with a combustion engine that could come as a competitor to the Volkswagen T-Cross, Jeep Renegade, Toyota Yaris Cross, Caoa Chery Tiggo 5X, GAC GS3 and others.
In China, the model sells for the equivalent of US$ 13 thousand, about R$ 64.690 in direct conversion. In our market, the Geely Coolray could come in the range of R$ 140 thousand.

Geely currently sells two electric models and one plug-in hybrid in Brazil. The Coolray would be an alternative to combustion for those who still don’t want to venture into electrified vehicles — a solution already used by Caoa Chery and GAC.
His engine is a 1.5 turbo that is part of the modular architecture developed by Volvo and that is already used in Brazil by Renault Koleos. In the Coolray it produces 170 hp and works together with a seven-speed oil-bathed dual-clutch transmission. Acceleration from zero to 100 km/h is done in 7.5 seconds.

The size is average for the segment, with 4.38 m long, 1.80 m wide, 1.61 m high and 2.60 m wheelbase. The downside is in the 330-liter trunk, more in line with entry-level hatchbacks and SUVs.
The Coolray’s design has a sportier feel, evidenced by the rear spoiler, the black wheels, the four exhaust tips and the brake calipers in red. The rival GAC GS3 also follows this formula, as does the late GT model of the GWM Ora 03.
Inside, it follows the Chinese standard of having a raised console and a large screen in the center of the panel. The instrument panel is set back, in a more traditional way. Fortunately, it has a series of physical controls for the air conditioning along with the start button, which are shared with the Renault Koleos.

The model’s equipment package may include a panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated front seats, a 14.6-inch multimedia center, an induction charger and an electronic parking brake. Among the safety items are the six airbags, level 2 ADAS package, adaptive cruise control and 540° camera.
Geely Cooray is currently sold in Southeast Asian countries, Belarus, Russia and the Middle East. In China, its name is Binyue L and it received an update in 2024.
