It looks tuning, but it’s factory Ferrari: 1,030 hp SF90 XX shocks with its paint

1,030 hp hypersports car got color-changing paint and details worthy of a preparer, but everything left the factory

Ferrari is recognized worldwide for its tradition of elegance, and both the brand and most of its customers usually prefer classic and sober tones. A newly unveiled unit of the very rare SF90 XX Stradale, however, proves that, in Maranello’s personalization program, the limit is the customer’s imagination: the result is among the boldest commissions ever recorded by the Tailor Made service and exchanges discretion for the celebration of Italian landscapes.

The big highlight is the Volterra Green paint, a four-layer finish with a color-changing effect that debuted in early 2022. Created for the Ferrari Cavalcade car collection — the brand’s exclusive ride, which was then ten years old — the shade is inspired by the deep greens and earthy tones of Tuscany, the region that gives the finish its name. To intensify the look, Ferrari applied contrasts in burnt orange to the air vents on the hood, in friezes on the sides and front and on the plates at the ends of the rear spoiler. The profusion of carbon fiber apparent, as in the central part of the hood and in the wing itself, reinforces the aggressive aspect of the hypercar. So extravagant is the set that the car was even mistaken for the work of preparers, although every detail came from Ferrari itself.

Inside, the refinement follows the same tone. The interior is covered in high-quality Alcantara, with black accents, JX Ultrasuede synthetic suede and contrasting stitching that preserves the sporty atmosphere typical of the XX series.

Under the bodywork, the mechanics remain unchanged: the hybrid set formed by the 4.0 V8 biturbo engine and three electric motors delivers 1,030 hp. Compared to the conventional SF90, the XX version received revised aerodynamics and was 10 kg lighter, thanks mainly to the carbon fiber wheels and lightweight seats.

Only 799 examples of the SF90 XX Stradale were produced worldwide, and the extreme customization pushes even higher the value of a machine that started from about R$ 4,35 million (US$ 840 thousand) before any optional. In Brazil, super sports car dealers and independent importers usually negotiate these units between R$ 9 million and R$ 12 million, depending on the level of customization and the dollar exchange rate. Due to the complexity of the choices in Tailor Made, the bill for this specific commission tends to add up to a six-figure figure, in dollars, to the list price.
