More spacious than the main rivals and with a factory spare tire, GAC's launch promises attractive values to rock the market
The dispute for the entry-level electric car market in Brazil has gained a new and strategic competitor. That’s because the Chinese automaker GAC has started the pre-sale of the Aion UT, its first 100% electric hatchback destined for the country. With an official launch scheduled for early June 2026, the model can now be reserved at the dealership network and on the brand’s digital platforms. With an estimated price between R$ 120 thousand to R$ 150 thousand, in two versions, the vehicle will arrive with the mission of facing established rivals, such as the BYD Dolphin and the Geely EX2.

To seek segment leadership, GAC structured the Aion UT range into two configurations. The entry-level version, named Premium, comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, a camera with a 360º view and integrated parking sensors. The top-of-the-line option, Elite, adds a panoramic sunroof with electric curtain, automated trunk lid and a level 2 driving assistance package (ADAS). In a practical nod to the demands of the Brazilian consumer, local engineering included a spare tire in both variants, an unusual item in electrified imports.
The size of the hatchback is one of its main assets. With a length of 4.27 m and a wheelbase of 2.75 m, the model offers an interior space that rivals that of compact SUVs. The external look bets on six color options, mixing sober tones (Gray, White and Black) and vibrant tones (Red, Green and Beige).

Under the hood, the two versions share the front electric motor capable of delivering 204 hp and 21,4 kgfm, providing agility in urban traffic. The set is powered by a 44.1 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, ensuring an official range of 310 km in the Brazilian cycle, according to Inmetro homologation.

GAC’s strategy is not limited to imports. The automaker has signed a logistics agreement with HPE to nationalize the production of its vehicles from 2027. The assembly will occupy the facilities of the Catalão plant, in Goiás, paving the way for a long-term offensive of the brand in the South American market.
