Elize Matsunaga’s car is sold, changes ownership and accumulates fines in SP

The green Mitsubishi Pajero TR4 2010 used by Elize Matsunaga in May 2012 to transport the remains of her husband, businessman Marcos Kitano Matsunaga, had its whereabouts and current situation revealed. The vehicle was sold, changed owners more than once and currently circulates in Greater São Paulo, accumulating R$ 665 in pending fines.

At the time of the murder of the then heir and director of Yoki, Elize was the first owner of the SUV, acquired zero-kilometer as a gift when the two were still dating. The police forensic investigation identified traces of blood in the trunk of the car, which served to transport three suitcases with the victim’s body parts for more than 200 km to the city of Cotia (SP).

Pajero TR4 was sold with low mileage and without warning

After Elize’s arrest, the vehicle remained stored for years in the garage of the condominium where the crime occurred, in the Vila Leopoldina neighborhood, west of the capital of São Paulo. In 2023, however, a used car store sold the utility, which had only 10 thousand kilometers on the clock. The first buyer of the car acquired the asset without knowing the history linked to the vehicle.

After the first resale, the Mitsubishi Pajero TR4 underwent a new transfer of ownership. Currently, the vehicle is registered in the municipality of São Caetano do Sul, in ABC Paulista. According to traffic data, the SUV is up to date with its licensing and able to circulate legally. However, it accumulates R$ 665 in debts resulting from recent infractions, such as:

• Use of a cell phone while driving;
• Running a red light;
• Speeding.

Repercussions and probation for Elize Matsunaga

Public curiosity about the fate of the assets involved in the case was recently reignited with the release of the Netflix movie “Elize: Shadows of a Woman”. Elize Matsunaga has been serving a sentence on probation since 2022, after being sentenced to 16 years and three months in prison for the murder and dismemberment of her husband.

In an interview with UOL Carros in 2021, Elize’s lawyer, Juliana Fincatti Santoro, said that her client paid off about R$ 12 thousand in overdue IPVA and licensing debts in 2019, when she progressed to the semi-open regime. Until the sale of the model, the woman paid annually for the administrative expenses of the vehicle, which was stopped for more than 10 years in one of the four vacancies of the two penthouses where the couple lived.
