Electric Renault Megane gets R$ 57.000 discount and is cheaper than the Boreal

Cut of R$ 57.000 takes the French electric to R$ 212.790 and places it below the top of the line Boreal, made in Paraná

Renault cut R$ 57,000 from the price of the Megane E-Tech, and the result is an unusual positioning adjustment: the electric crossover imported from France now costs R$ 212,790, less than the top-of-the-line version of the Boreal, the medium SUV that the brand produces in Paraná and sells for up to R$ 214,990.

The discount is a response to a sales problem that has dragged on since its launch in September 2023. In almost three years on the market, the model has accumulated 346 units registered in Brazil – an average of less than ten cars per month. In 2024, data from the Brazilian Electric Vehicle Association (ABVE) pointed to only 16 registrations until May.

It is not the first attempt. The Megane E-Tech arrived for R$ 279.900 and has since gone through successive campaigns: in July 2024, it had a cut of R$ 80.000 to burn stock of the 2023/2024 model; in March 2025, R$ 75,000 for those financed by Banco RCI; in October of the same year, R$ 54,000 with promotional installments. The difference now is that the reduction has no deadline disclosed.

What the discount buys

For the new value, the buyer gets an electric with 220 hp and 30.6 kgfm of torque, which accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds and has a top speed limited to 160 km/h. The 60 kWh battery yields 337 km of autonomy in the cycle of the Brazilian Vehicle Labeling Program (PBEV), from Inmetro, and accepts fast recharging in direct current of up to 130 kW — from 0% to 80% in about half an hour, according to the manufacturer.

The finish is the strong point recognized by the specialized press since the launch: a panel covered in fabric made from recycled bottles, synthetic suede inserts on the doors, a 12.3″ digital instrument panel and 9″ openR multimedia integrated into the same frame, with a system developed together with Google.

What weighs against it is the size: with 4.20 m in length and 2.68 m in wheelbase, the Megane E-Tech has the size of a Volkswagen T-Cross and a trunk of 440 liters — dimensions of a compact for an average SUV price, even after the abatement. The Boreal, for comparison, measures 4.56 m and takes 522 liters.

Movement is not isolated

Renault has been repricing the entire high end of its range: the Koleos, a hybrid produced in South Korea that debuted in the country in April, has a list price of R$ 289,990, but was announced at R$ 279,990 in promotional condition, with no deadline set by the brand at the time. It is the same logic applied to the Megane: use factory discounts to make imported products competitive in a market where Chinese rivals arrive at an aggressive price.
