Dacia Spring 2027 leaves China, grows 15 cm and breaks ties with the electric Kwid
Second generation of the electric compact swaps the Chinese factory for a line in Slovenia and maintains an entry-level version below € 20 thousand

Dacia presented on Tuesday (8) the second generation of the Dacia Spring, its entry-level electric car, which leaves China and is now produced in Slovenia. The model starts at €17,900 (about R$107,000) and reaches €19,500 (R$116,000) in the top version. According to the manufacturer, no version will exceed €20,000 (about R$119,000) in Europe, before tax incentives.
The change of address is the center of the project: the Spring shares factory and platform — the RG-EV Small — with the new Renault Twingo E-Tech, which frees it from the tariffs that the European Union imposes on electric cars imported from China and puts it back on the incentive lists of countries like France. The first deliveries begin in early 2027; until then, the Chinese generation is still on sale as a cheaper option.
The change of base is also connected to the end of a chapter in Brazil: while it was sold here, the Renault Kwid E-Tech was essentially a renamed Dacia Spring, coming from the same Chinese factory. With weak sales and no local scale, the hatch was discontinued in May, and Renault’s electric bet on entry into the country became the Geely EX2, from the partnership with the Chinese. The Spring followed the opposite path: it grew and rose to the next level.

Bigger, squarer and still A-segment
At 3.85 meters long and 1.74 meters wide, the Spring was 15 cm longer and 18 cm wider than its predecessor. The body adopted a more vertical front, pronounced wheel arches and plastic bumper guards. The tilting rear windows, an obvious concession to the cost, were maintained.
The trunk holds 337 liters and reaches 1,283 liters with the seats folded down — a category record, according to Dacia. There is also an optional 18-liter compartment under the hood for the cable.

80 hp engine and quick recharge as an option
The engine is unique: an 80 hp electric motor and 17,8 kgfm of torque, which takes the Spring to 100 km/h in 12,1 seconds and a top speed of 130 km/h. The lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, with 27,5 kWh useful, yields up to 250 km through the WLTP cycle.
The standard on-board charger is 6.6 kW and recharging from 15% to 80% takes nine hours in a common socket. An optional package increases the power to 11 kW, reduces this time to 1 hour and 55 minutes and adds 50 kW fast charging in direct current, which completes the same stretch in 28 minutes — a package that also features the V2L system.
The 7-inch digital dashboard is standard. The Expression dispenses with a central screen and uses the Media Control system, which mirrors media on the driver’s cell phone. The Journey adds a 10.1-inch Media Nav Live center, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, reversing camera and keyless access.
