Chery and Huawei launch SUV that has Ferrari’s finger in the project

Chery has started the presale of the Luxeed RX in the Chinese market. It is an all-electric coupe SUV developed in collaboration with Huawei. The result of the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA), the vehicle boasts generous dimensions, measuring 5.02 meters in length, 2.01 meters in width and 3 meters in wheelbase, placing itself on a level similar to that of competitors such as the Xiaomi YU7.

In terms of visuals, the project has the signature of Werner Gruber, former exterior designer at Ferrari. The professional worked as a senior in prominent projects such as LaFerrari, FXX-K and Portofino before moving on to Saleen.

Mechanically, the model is offered in rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options. The top-of-the-line all-wheel drive version uses Huawei’s DriveOne electric system, combining front and rear thrusters to deliver a combined power of 437 kW, equivalent to 586 hp. There is also a button-operated “boost” mode on the steering wheel, capable of momentarily increasing torque by 10%, with response announced in just 1 millisecond.

The energy set has batteries ranging from 81.1 kWh to capacities close to 100 kWh, ensuring a maximum range of up to 852 km according to the optimistic Chinese CLTC cycle. The technology package includes two-chamber air suspension, adaptive damping, six-piston brake calipers and advanced driving assistance systems equipped with LiDAR technology.

Manufactured at Chery’s plant in Wuhu, the Luxeed RX has undergone severe battery of tests, including extreme lane-changing maneuvers at more than 250 km/h. The definitive prices have not yet been released by the automaker.
