BMW iX3 becomes the electric car with the longest autonomy in Brazil, with a large advantage

The BMW iX3 will debut as the electric car with the longest range for sale in Brazil. Recently approved by Inmetro in the Brazilian Vehicle Labeling Program (PBEV), the iX3 50 xDrive recorded 570 kilometers of range, a mark that, according to the automaker, surpasses any other electric available in the country. The model is the first of the so-called Neue Klasse and arrives at dealerships in the coming weeks.

The former leader of BMW, the iX, clocked up to 498 km in the Inmetro cycle, but was discontinued in May of this year. With the drop, the position of the longest-range electric car in Brazil became the Chevrolet Blazer EV, which travels 481 km by the same measurement. The 570 km promised by the iX3 would leave the German SUV well ahead of them all.

What is Neue Klasse

Neue Klasse (“new class” in German) is the architecture that BMW developed from scratch for electric cars, without inheriting components from combustion models. The iX3 is the first in series to use it and serves as a showcase for the technology that the brand will spread through its next launches. The package brings the sixth generation of eDrive technology, 800-volt electrical architecture and a new generation of batteries with cylindrical cells. The platform also debuts BMW Panoramic Vision, a strip of information projected at the base of the windshield from side to side, a central screen of unprecedented format and the BMW OS X operating system.

The BMW iX3 50 xDrive

BMW has not yet released the data for the Brazilian version, but the BMW iX3 50 xDrive sold in Europe uses two electric motors, one on each axle, which add up to 469 hp and 65,8 kgfm. The set accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 210 km/h. The battery has 108.7 kWh of useful capacity and accepts fast recharging in direct current of up to 400 kW — power that, according to the brand, recovers about 350 km of autonomy in ten minutes and takes the battery from 10% to 80% in around 21 minutes.

In Europe, the range reaches 805 km through the WLTP cycle, more optimistic than Inmetro’s. The SUV measures 4,782 m long, 1,895 m wide and 2,897 m wheelbase. BMW has not confirmed the national price, but AutoPapo estimates that the electric SUV could debut in Brazil in the range of R$ 500 thousand. In Germany, the iX3 50 xDrive starts at 70,900 euros.
