Lego presented the Lego DC Batman: Batman Returns Batmobile, a set of 2,269 pieces that reproduces for the first time in blocks the car used by Batman in the 1992 film. Developed in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products, the model hits stores on September 4 for US$ 229,99, about R$ 1.191 at this Thursday’s price (20).

The kit recreates the elongated silhouette, rear turbine, tilting top and cockpit of the vehicle designed for production driven by Tim Burton. Assembled, the model is 45 cm long, 17 cm wide and 10 cm high, according to the manufacturer, and is suitable for people over 18 years old.

A button releases the Batmissile

The main novelty is in the transformation mechanism, unprecedented in a Lego Batmobile. At the push of a button, the side panels open and reveal the Batmissile, the getaway vehicle hidden inside the car. A system of articulated arms reproduces the sequence seen in the film and allows the piece to be exposed in both configurations.

The set also hides six references to the film, including the tracking device installed by the Penguin. To arrive at the final result, Lego’s design team developed three new elements, including a brand new mask for the Batman minifigure.

Accompanying the model is an exclusive minifigure of the character, with a cape molded specifically for the set, and a stand with the Batman Returns logo. It’s the latest in a line of display models that Lego has been dedicating to the DC hero.

Pricing and availability

The Lego DC Batman: Batman Returns Batmobile (76355) will have early access for members of the Lego Insiders program starting September 1, with sale to the general public three days later on September 4. The announced values are US$ 229,99 in the United States, 209,99 euros in Europe and 189,99 pounds in the United Kingdom, equivalent to R$ 1,191, R$ 1,270 and R$ 1,343, respectively, at this Thursday’s exchange rate.

The company did not inform an arrival date or price for Brazil. Lego display kits usually arrive in the country months after the international launch and at a higher price than the direct conversion, because of taxes and shipping.
