Actions carried out in less than 24 hours resulted in the two largest seizures of slimming pens ever recorded on federal highways
The Federal Highway Police (PRF) carried out, in an interval of less than 24 hours, the two largest seizures of slimming drugs in its history on federal highways. The actions, which took place in the states of Paraná and São Paulo, resulted in the confiscation of 8,528 ampoules of substances such as Ozempic and Mounjaro, which are controlled for sale in the country by the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa).
The largest interception occurred on Thursday morning (14), on the stretch of BR-277 in Santa Tereza do Oeste (PR). During a routine stop, agents inspected a van and located 6,328 vials hidden under the vehicle’s seats. The driver was arrested in the act and referred to the local judicial police.

Just one day earlier, on Wednesday (13), federal police officers had already set the previous record on the BR-116 highway, near Barra do Turvo (SP). At the time, about 2,200 ampoules were found distributed in 550 boxes, hidden in an adapted compartment on the dashboard of a passenger car. Two occupants of the vehicle were detained.
According to the corporation, the irregular transport of this type of input has intensified in recent months, stimulated by the low cost of acquisition in neighboring countries and the high resale value in the Brazilian clandestine market. Illegal distribution usually supplies profiles on social networks and e-commerce sites, where weight loss substances are offered without medical control.
Because they are prohibited, these over-the-counter drugs offer serious danger to consumers, since they have no guarantee of origin, thermal conservation or real laboratory composition. Under the legislation, the conduct is typified as a crime of smuggling, whose penalties provide for imprisonment and a fine. Investigations are still ongoing to map the supply chain and identify the final buyers of the lots.
