High-speed chase on rural roads in the US ended after tactical maneuver by police; driver fled because his license was suspended
A high-speed police chase in Shelby County, Tennessee (USA), ended with the overturning of a Dodge Charger and the arrest of a 22-year-old woman. The driver tried to escape from the vehicles at more than 129 km/h on a road whose regulatory limit was 88 km/h. The most serious factor in the occurrence, which generated local indignation, was the presence of her 3-year-old son in the back seat during the entire escape through the rural roads of the region.

Taking advantage of the low traffic on the highway, local police found an opportunity to carry out a tactical intervention known as a PIT maneuver. One of the vehicles gave a light touch to the rear side of the Dodge Charger to force the vehicle to stop.

The impact, however, directed the car to the grassy median, where the suspect completely lost control of the steering. The vehicle crossed the carriageway and overturned in the opposite ditch, stopping with the wheels up in a scenario of total destruction.
After moments of tension, the driver managed to open the rear door, from where the 3-year-old boy crawled out alone and without serious injuries, running scared towards the police. Upon being detained, the woman justified the extreme attitude by saying that she fled only because she was driving with a suspended driver’s license.

The driver was immediately arrested by the authorities for putting the minor’s life at risk. In addition to responding for reckless driving, forced evasion and child abuse, she was charged with unauthorized use of someone else’s property, as the model belonged to her boyfriend and had been removed from the residence without his consent.
