Bill in progress proposes changes in vehicle identification and may force drivers to bear replacement costs again
Exactly eight years ago, the Mercosur Plate was approved for our automobiles. Cars registered before this decision and that were not transferred from municipality to municipality remain with the old license plate to this day.

The new plate increases the number of combinations and does not include the municipality or the state in which the car was registered. Which does not change much for inspection, because today everything is electronic. The police officer has, electronically, instant information about the car and its driver.
But a bill is running in the Chamber of Deputies to include the municipality and state of origin of the car. If it is approved by Congress and sanctioned by the president, we will have another useless stab in the driver’s pocket.
