RS 2026 licensing: see Detran calendar and how to issue updated CRLV

The Vehicle Registration and Licensing Certificate (CRLV) must be renewed annually. This happens automatically with the payment of the Motor Vehicle Property Tax (IPVA) and the Annual Vehicle Licensing Renewal Fee (TRLAV). The Traffic Department (Detran) of Rio Grande do Sul has already released the dates and values of the RS 2026 licensing.

Once paid, the new document can be accessed through the CNH do Brasil application, the service portal of the National Traffic Secretariat (Senatran) or the Detran website.

RS 2026 Licensing Dates

The DMV-RS established the TRLAV calendar with a single payment deadline:

• July 31

Meanwhile, the deadline for paying the IPVA was April 30, so the owner who, for any reason, has not paid the tax must seek to settle this debt to be able to issue the vehicle document.

How much does TRLAV RS 2026 cost

Unlike the IPVA, which varies from model to model, the annual licensing fee has a fixed amount of R$ 114.09 that does not have the option of installments, so it must be paid in cash. In addition, to obtain the updated CRLV, you must also pay the outstanding fines associated with your vehicle.

How to pay for RS licensing

Since 2020, the CRLV has been issued in digital format. After paying the fee in the banking system, the document can be accessed through the Detran-RS portal, the federal government’s CNH do Brasil application or the Senatran service portal.

Payment by the DetranRS Service Center:

1. Register/login with the password gov.br;
2. In “Licensing payment via Pix”, the vehicles you own will be listed, click on the one you want to settle the debts. If you want to access the vehicle debts of another owner, enter the license plate and Renavam and click on “Consult”;
3. Each of the pending amounts will be listed separately and it will be necessary to pay one by one, clicking on “Pay with Pix”. A QR-code or code will be generated for each of the amounts to be paid;
4. Open your Pix app and scan the QR-code, or copy and paste the generated code, confirm the information and complete the payment;
5. With the settlement of all debts listed, the information will be passed on to the DetranRS system for confirmation of licensing.
6. The vehicle owner will then have total independence to download the digital CRLV on his cell phone or, if he wants, print the document at home.

Through the IPVA RS website or application, from the State Treasury (RS Treasury Secretariat):

1. Access the State Treasury website or download the IPVA RS app from Google Play or Apple Store;
2. When opening, enter the vehicle’s license plate and Renavam and click on “consult”;
3. Each of the pending amounts will be listed separately and it will be necessary to pay one by one, clicking on “Generate Pix for payment”. A code will be generated for each of the amounts to be paid;
4. Open your Pix app and scan, or copy and paste the generated code, confirm the information and complete the payment;
5. With the settlement of all debts listed, the information will be passed on to the DetranRS system for confirmation of licensing.
6. The vehicle owner will then have total independence to download the digital CRLV on his cell phone or, if he wants, print the document at home.

After the regularization of all pending issues, the processing of the licensing in the DetranRS system can take place within 1 business day. In the case of IPVA debt in Active Debt, the licensing processing can occur within 3 business days.

Detran RS warns of scams when paying for licensing

When paying the TRLAV, it is necessary to pay attention to the following tips provided by the Traffic Department:

• The real Government websites for generating the code for payment by PIX are in the .rs.gov.br/ domain.
• The official application of the Government of Rio Grande do Sul is the IPVA RS, from the State Revenue.
• The State Government, Detran-RS and the Department of Finance do not send emails, SMS or WhatsApp with links or IPVA slips;
• Make sure who is getting your payment. For the payment of the PIX of the Licensing Fee, the beneficiary will always be DetranRS, CNPJ: 01.935.819/0001-03, BANRISUL – BCO DO ESTADO DO RS S.A.

Fine for late licensing

According to the Brazilian Traffic Code (CTB), driving with an expired CRLV is a very serious infraction, with a fine of R$ 293.47 and seven points on the National Driver’s License (CNH).
