According to the Brazilian Traffic Code (CTB), theVehicle Registration and Licensing Certificate (CRLV) must be renewed annually. To do so, car owners must pay the licensing fee, also called the Annual Vehicle Licensing Renewal Fee (TRLAV).
This amount is charged on a state basis only to issue the car document, which must be renewed every year. Driving with an expired CRLV is a very serious infraction, with a fine of R$ 293.47 and seven points on the National Driver’s License (CNH).
