One of the most traditional SUVs in the Brazilian market is renewed in the 2026 line, combining sophistication, efficiency and a lot of comfort
One of the most popular SUVs in the Brazilian market arrived in the 1990s, at a time when the local industry had no representative. We are talking about the Kia Sportage, a car that symbolizes the evolution of the South Korean brand and is synonymous with SUVs among us.
The new Kia Sportage 2026 arrives in the Brazilian market with a consistent evolution, combining renewed design, technical advances and a robust equipment package. With more than seven million units sold worldwide, the model inaugurates a new phase by incorporating solutions that increase efficiency, safety and connectivity, in line with current mobility demands.

The new generation adopts the “Opposites United” design philosophy, which seeks to balance contrasting elements in a striking visual proposal and also indicates the synergy between different technologies. The front stands out for the redesigned “Tiger Nose” grille and the LED Star Map light signature, which expands the perception of width and gives identity to the model. The 19-inch alloy wheels and the more fluid lines of the body reinforce the aesthetic proposal, while the set highlights an SUV with a more sophisticated and contemporary presence.

Inside, the Sportage evolves in ergonomics and finish. The dashboard was redesigned with a focus on the integration of technology and usability, bringing panoramic screens that concentrate the main functions of the vehicle. The interior environment favors the perception of quality, with refined materials and solutions that increase comfort on board. The two-spoke steering wheel with a straight base, new in this update, contributes to a more intuitive and modern drive.

But the most important thing is to take care of ergonomics. All controls are within reach of the driver. And most importantly, physical commands for trivial functions like audio system volume, so the driver doesn’t get confused or distracted while driving.
The safety package is one of the main highlights of the model. The Sportage achieved a maximum five-star rating in Latin NCAP tests, a result that reflects the combination of reinforced structure and advanced driver assistance technologies. The model incorporates ADAS systems that act preventively, expanding the protection of occupants and pedestrians.
Among the main features are driver fatigue alert, lane keeping and centering assistant, forward collision avoidance system, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert and high beam assistant. The set is complemented by a camera with 360° vision and front, rear and side parking sensors, facilitating maneuvers in different situations.

In dimensions, the Sportage is a reference in terms of interior space. It is 4.54 m long, 1.86 m wide, 1.64 m high and has a wheelbase of 2.68 m, measurements that favor interior space and occupant comfort. The trunk offers 562 liters of capacity, and can reach 1,751 liters with the rear seats folded down, expanding versatility for different needs.
Under the hood, the model is equipped with the Gamma II 1.6 turbo GDI engine, associated with the 48V MHEV mild hybrid system. This set delivers 178 hp of combined power at 5,500 rpm and torque of 27 kgfm available between 1,500 and 4,500 rpm, providing quick responses and energy efficiency. The system uses a 48V battery that assists the combustion engine, reducing consumption and improving performance in acceleration and resumption.
The engineering of the mechanical assembly incorporates solutions such as DOHC valve timing with E-CVVT and CVVD technologies, which allow adjusting the opening time of the valves according to demand. This feature enables the driving mode known as “sailing”, in which the engine can be temporarily turned off in specific situations, with low torque demand, contributing to reduced consumption and emissions.
The efficiency gains are evidenced by the consumption figures, which reach 12.5 km/l in the urban cycle and 13.2 km/l on highways (fueled only with gasoline), according to Inmetro’s Brazilian Vehicle Labeling Program (PBEV). This result represents an evolution of approximately 8% compared to the previous generation, reflecting improvements such as reduction of internal friction, new engine calibration and use of variable geometry turbine.
The seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT) complements the set, offering quick and smooth shifts. Front-wheel drive is combined with an independent suspension system on all four wheels, with MacPherson architecture at the front and multilink at the rear, ensuring a balance between comfort and stability. The electric steering contributes to greater precision in different conditions of use.
Another relevant aspect is the durability and reliability of the mechanical and electrical assembly. The Sportage 2026 maintains a 5-year warranty, including the mild hybrid system and the 48V battery, offering consumer support and evidencing the brand’s confidence in the technology used.
The proposal of the new Sportage also dialogues with the energy transition, by incorporating electrified solutions without giving up the practicality of a combustion engine. The mild hybrid system acts transparently to the driver, improving efficiency without requiring changes in the fueling or driving routine.

Overall, the model positions itself as an option that combines updated design, energy efficiency, consistent performance and a comprehensive package of safety and technology. The EX Prestige version brings together these attributes in a configuration that meets different usage profiles, from urban commuting to longer trips.
With a suggested price of R$ 267.190, the new Kia Sportage 2026 is part of a competitive segment, betting on the combination of technical innovation, comfort and safety as differentials. The evolution of the Sportage is the materialization of Kia’s constant sophistication, which since its arrival three decades ago, has always been a reference in quality and modernity.
