Electric hatchback is the brand's big bet to grow in volume in the Brazilian market, but the price remains to be seen
GAC has confirmed the start of the pre-sale of the Aion UT, the electric hatch that comes to fight directly against the BYD Dolphin, the GWM Ora 03 and the Geely EX2. The price was not disclosed, interested parties can reserve the car by paying a down payment of R$ 5 thousand.
The Brazilian specification of the GAC Aion UT will have a range of 310 km in the Inmetro cycle, second only to the Ora 03 BEV 58 within this segment. The model will be sold in two versions, Premium and Elite.

All will have a 360º camera with front and rear parking sensors, 17-inch alloy wheels and spare tire. The top of the line will have a complete ADAS level 2 package, electric trunk opening and a 204 hp engine, more powerful than rivals.
In other markets, the Aion UT is offered with a 136 hp engine, the same as the Aion ES, which can be the engine of the Premium model. The price should be between R$ 130 thousand and R$ 160 thousand, but GAC may surprise as it did with the GS3.

The GAC Aion UT is a compact hatch that measures 4.27 m in length, 1.85 m in width and 2.75 m in wheelbase. It was designed with a focus on exports, mainly to the European market.
The interior of the model follows that seen in several other Chinese ones: a large screen for the multimedia center, another slender behind the steering wheel as an instrument panel and few physical buttons. From the photos we can say that the adjustment of the mirrors will be by the screen.
The center console is low and complemented by an extension on the armrest, making the cabin more airy. The gear lever is behind the steering wheel. Those who go behind will have air conditioning vents.
What will dictate the success of GAC Aion UT in Brazil is pricing. The success of the Geely EX2 showed that the electric public is not so connected to the brand and bets on newcomers if they offer a good package.
