BYD has announced the launch of the Dolphin SE in Brazil. The new version of the electric vehicle, whose acronym stands for Special Edition, is positioned in an intermediate range of the automaker’s catalog, between the entry-level GS configurations and the top-of-the-line Plus. The model arrives at dealerships with aesthetic and mechanical updates exclusive to this variant.

Aesthetic and mechanical modifications

On the outside, the Dolphin SE introduces modifications that anticipate the future visual identity of the line. The vehicle received more tapered headlights that extend to the fenders and are integrated into the new front grille. The set includes 17″ wheels, redesigned bumpers and a new trunk lid. The rear optical assembly was modified and now has the manufacturer’s logo illuminated.

Under the hood, the SE version is equipped with a front electric motor that develops 177 hp and 29,6 kgfm. With this set, the manufacturer declares acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in eight seconds. The power is provided by a 45.12 kWh battery, which has not had Inmetro data released but should be around 300 km. The system supports direct current (DC) fast charging of up to 80 kW, a capacity that allows the battery level to be raised from 30% to 80% in 20 minutes.

Equipment and technology on board

The interior features an 8.8″ digital instrument panel and a 12.8″ floating multimedia center, which now integrates the Google Assistant system. The induction cell phone charger has 50 W of power. To optimize space in the center console, the gear selector has been moved to the steering column.

The safety package covers the ADAS 2 driving assistance system. The technology encompasses adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, blind spot monitoring and lane keeping and change assistants.

Available in the colors Obsidian Black, Cheese White, Atlantis Blue and Time Grey, always with an interior lining in dark tones (Black & Grey), the BYD Dolphin SE has a suggested price of R$ 159.990.
