For those who enjoy cars, Group E of the football World Cup brings only Germany, from a well-known country. Ecuador has a small local industry, but the others only import. The ranking of their best-selling cars brings more urban models, check it out:

The Volkswagen Golf is an institution in Germany, it has topped the list of best-selling cars in the country for a few years. While in Brazil they only come in the GTI sports model, the Europeans have a complete range.

In Germany, models with a 1.0 TSI and 1.5 TSI engine are 48-volt mild hybrids, which use an electric motor inside the DSG gearbox that drives the car with the engine off and another connected to the crankshaft. There are also braver sports versions than the GTI we know, such as the Clubsport and the R, in addition to the station wagon bodywork.

Ivory Coast returned to participate in the World Cup after being absent in the last two editions. The African country’s best-selling car is the Suzuki Dzire, a sedan derived from the Swift developed in India for emerging markets.

The measurements of the Dzire are smaller than some hatches we have here, it measures 3.99 m in length, 2.45 m in wheelbase and 1.73 m in width. The justification for this is in the Indian origin, there is a lower tax range for cars up to 4 m long.

Ecuador

Ecuador’s automotive industry is small and focused on vehicle production under the CKD regime. General Motors had a more robust operation there, but ended its activities in 2025 and started to act only as an importer.

The best-selling car in Ecuador is the Kia Soluto, a Rio sedan made in CKD by Aymesa. It has a trunk of 475 liters and is popular with taxi drivers.

Curacao

We didn’t find sales data for the island, but in the photos, rental fleets and Google Street View you can find many Kia cars (Photo: Shutterstock)

We couldn’t find the sales data for some countries, Curacao was one of them. This Caribbean island, off the coast of Venezuela, was colonized by the Dutch and achieved its autonomy as a country in 2010.

As for cars, the offer is diverse and mixes North American and global models. Most of the new models registered go to rental companies and serve tourists. Kia models are very popular in these services, especially the Picanto. It is our bet for the best-selling car on the island.
