Dafra SYM ADXTG 300: an off-road that bets on price

Dafra's adventurous scooter bets on good cost-benefit, versatile behavior and tailor-made equipment, but the dealership network still weighs against it

The adventurous scooter segment is still new in Brazil, but it is already starting to gain strong competitors. After the arrival of the Zontes 368G Adventure, Dafra presents the SYM ADXTG 300 as a more affordable alternative for those looking for a scooter capable of going beyond the asphalt without giving up urban practicality.

Costing R$ 32.990, with shipping included, the ADXTG 300 arrives in an interesting position in the market. It does not intend to be the absolute reference in the category in performance or technology, but it manages to deliver a very balanced set for a lower value than the main competitor. And, in practice, this proposal makes sense.

Adventurous look and convincing build

The ADXTG 300 draws attention for its robust look, inspired by adventure motorcycles. The angular lines, the raised front end and the all-LED optical assembly help to convey a modern look without exaggeration.

The equipment list goes well with the scooter’s proposal. Among the highlights are:

  • 7-inch color TFT panel;
  • keyless;
  • traction control (disengageable);
  • ABS brakes on both wheels;
  • USB-A and USB-C inputs;
  • day and night display modes for the dashboard.

It’s not the most sophisticated technological package in the category, especially when compared to the Zontes 368G Adventure, but it also doesn’t lack important features in everyday life. The feeling is that SYM has invested exactly in what makes a difference for the average user.

Engine delivers well, but could be more

Under the seat is the well-known 278.3 cm³, four-valve, liquid-cooled single-cylinder, which develops 26 hp at 8.000 rpm and 2.65 kgfm of torque at 6.000 rpm, always associated with the CVT automatic transmission.

The numbers are below those presented by the main competitor, but, in practice, they hardly let the driver down.

In the city, accelerations are enough to keep up with traffic with tranquility. On the road, the scooter maintains cruising speeds without conveying a feeling of excessive effort, although it is clear that it is not designed to offer sporty performance. Still, a few horses and extra strength would be ideal to close this more adventurous proposal.

Despite everything, the SYM ADXTG 300 goes well in the city, on the road and faces off-road. The greatest merit of the ADXTG 300 lies precisely in its versatility.

On the road, the set conveys stability. The 16-liter tank deserves to be highlighted, offering autonomy higher than the category average and reducing the need for refueling when traveling.

Of course, it does not replace a trail motorcycle, but the suspensions — with 110 mm of travel at the front and 135 mm at the rear — added to the mixed-use tires mounted on 15-inch wheels at the front and 14 at the rear, allow you to tackle dirt roads, gravel and uneven surfaces with more confidence than a conventional scooter.

Bank is the main point of criticism

Despite the qualities, there is one aspect that deserves to be noted. The seat is comfortable in urban commuting and on short trips. However, after long periods of riding — especially when there are stretches of dirt or rougher floors — the seat starts to bother you.

As with virtually any scooter, the riding position and seat construction mean that impacts are transmitted directly to the rider. After some time facing irregularities, the discomfort becomes evident.

It is not a problem exclusive to the ADXTG 300, but it is an inherent limitation of the vehicle’s concept.

The legs are also not in the best position and those who are taller will suffer a little from the size of the space for the feet.

In addition, the dry weight of 188 kg does not compromise maneuvers on the move, but moving it stationary is already starting to be a complicated task – even more so due to the dimensions of a scooter.

Comparison with the Zontes 368G Adventure

It is impossible to analyze the ADXTG 300 without looking at its main competitor. Zontes offers a more powerful engine, superior performance and a more sophisticated technology package. In these aspects, it continues to be the reference of the category.

On the other hand, SYM responds with a more competitive price and a very rational set. It delivers practically everything the consumer expects from an adventurous scooter, even without leading in any specific aspect.

In the end, the choice goes through the buyer’s profile: those looking for maximum performance will probably continue to look at Zontes. Those who prioritize cost-benefit will find in the ADXTG 300 a very consistent alternative.

Is it worth it?

The SYM ADXTG 300 manages to deliver well on its promises. It runs well in the city, faces road trips without difficulties and surprises positively when the asphalt runs out – even though it is not a great highlight. The equipment package is complete in the right measure, the engine meets the proposal and the 16-liter tank represents an important advantage for those who intend to travel.

The negative points exist. The bench could offer more comfort and the footwell could be better designed.

Another point that complicates the acquisition of the model, for some, is that the Dafra/SYM dealership network, which although it has been in the country for a long time, has few units, adding up to less than 40 in about 19 years.

Still, looking at the set as a whole, the ADXTG 300 delivers a relationship between price, equipment and versatility that is difficult to ignore. It is not the best adventurous scooter available today in Brazil, but it is certainly among the most balanced options in the category and shows that it is possible to offer a lot of content without charging the highest price in the segment.
