Citroën has unveiled a concept version of the C3 Aircross with a military look to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the French Navy. Named C3 Aircross Marine Nationale, the unique example transforms the compact SUV into a kind of tactical vehicle, with special paint, mixed-use tires and accessories inspired by naval operations.
The project draws attention precisely because it is based on a family and urban model. The C3 Aircross is one of the most affordable SUVs in the brand’s European lineup, but it has gained a more robust visual treatment, with solutions that refer to the military universe and outdoor activities.
The body received the Storm Blue color, combined with the Light Gray roof and red details. According to the brand’s proposal, the combination refers to the uniforms of Marine Nationale. The bumpers have been redesigned and gained additional coatings, while the black 17″ wheels use tires intended for off-road use.
The exterior assembly also includes fender flares, reinforced tow hooks and lashing strips on the body. There is also a roof rack sized to carry equipment used by Navy divers, as well as exclusive stickers on the doors and rear columns.
Another detail is in the auxiliary headlights, protected by horizontal grilles. The design was inspired by the old lanterns used by sailors to transmit messages in Morse code, a feature that reinforces Citroën’s attempt to take naval references beyond painting.
In the cabin, the theme also appears clearly. The red ambient lighting refers to the interior of submarines, where this type of light helps preserve the adaptation of the eyes in dark environments and the notion of the passage of time during long periods submerged.
The seats were finished in red and white, with emblems commemorating the 400th anniversary of the French Navy. On the dashboard, Citroën applied details in blue, white and red, in direct reference to the colors of the French flag.
The brand did not report mechanical or structural changes to the C3 Aircross Marine Nationale. Despite this, the concept seems to have greater height compared to the conventional SUV, which reinforces the adventurous proposal. In Europe, the C3 Aircross is offered with a 1.2 turbo engine in combustion and mild hybrid versions, in addition to an all-electric configuration.
For now, there is no serial production forecast for the C3 Aircross Marine Nationale. The model was presented as a design study, but it can also serve as a showcase for a future adventurous version of the SUV or for a line of accessories with off-road inspiration.
