Stellantis started serial production of the new Jeep Avenger at the Porto Real Automotive Plant (RJ), in an event that marked the unit’s 25th anniversary. The compact SUV is the first electrified vehicle to leave the lines of the Rio de Janeiro plant and arrives as the main vector of an investment cycle of R$ 3 billion that the automaker allocates to the plant until 2030.
The Avenger debuts Bio-Hybrid technology in the country on the CMP vehicle platform. This mild-hybrid system associates the 1.0 turbo flex engine with a 12-volt electric set to improve response when starting and reduce consumption.
With the national operation, Brazil becomes the second country to manufacture the Avenger, until then only produced in Tychy, Poland. The compact — the smallest model ever made by Jeep, at 4.08 m long — now competes in the heated entry-level SUV segment, in which it competes with names like Volkswagen Tera, Fiat Pulse and Renault Kardian.

To meet the increase in demand, Stellantis confirmed the opening of a second production shift in Porto Real. The measure will result in the hiring of 800 new direct employees, in addition to the generation of about 450 vacancies in the supplier park, a move that reinforces the unit as one of the company’s main hubs for electrified vehicles in South America.
The expansion also strengthens the local production chain. The company announced the arrival of eight new suppliers to the industrial park, bringing the number of partners in the region to 13. According to the automaker, the densification of the network will reduce logistics costs, increase the nationalization of components and boost the development of the automotive industry in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The move is part of a historic investment of R$ 32 billion by the company in the region.
