The next generation of the Renault Arkana will be produced in Brazil from 2027 and will be born on the GEA platform, the same architecture as the Geely EX5. The information was anticipated exclusively by the Autos Segredos website, which found that the coupe SUV was the model behind the investment announced by Renault Geely do Brasil.

On Tuesday (15), the joint venture confirmed an additional investment of R$ 2 billion in the Ayrton Senna Complex, in São José dos Pinhais (PR). The amount is in addition to the R$ 3.8 billion announced in November 2025 and brings the total to R$ 5.8 billion.

Fabrice Cambolive, chairman of the Board of Renault Geely do Brasil, said at the event that the new model will be electrified and will use technology from the Chinese partner, but the company did not reveal the name of the car.

On the same day, national production of the Geely EX5 EM-i, the first model of the GEA platform made in the country, began.

Flex plug-in hybrid, with two battery

options According to Autos Segredos, the debut is scheduled for the end of 2027 and the Arkana will inherit the plug-in hybrid set of the EX5 EM-i, with a decisive difference: flex technology, to run on ethanol and gasoline. The site also found that the SUV should offer the two LFP battery options of the Chinese model, 18.4 kWh and 29.8 kWh, in addition to the three driving modes Electric, Hybrid and Sport.

The current numbers of the EX5 EM-i, released by the brand, give the reference of what to expect: a set of 262 hp and 38,7 kgfm, formed by electric motors that add up to 215 hp and 26,7 kgfm associated with a 1.5 four-cylinder engine, which acts primarily as a generator. The expectation is for a slight gain with ethanol.

Without Geely’s face, promises Renault

The GEA architecture accepts different mechanical configurations, which rules out the idea of a renamed EX5. The definitive design has not yet been revealed, but the expectation is for its own visual identity, in line with Renault’s current language and the sporty body associated with the Arkana name.

As a size reference, the EX5 measures 4.74 m in length, 1.91 m in width, 1.68 m in height and 2.75 m in wheelbase, measurements close to those of the current European generation of Arkana. This would place the coupe SUV one range above the Boreal in the brand’s Brazilian portfolio.

Renault had already studied the Arkana in Brazil before, both for the import of the current generation and for the development of a C-segment coupe SUV on the RGMP platform, which serves the Kardian, Boreal and the future Niagara pickup.
