Government program lowers the prices of electric cars and SUVs and takes taxi drivers and app drivers to the country's dealerships
The start of Move Brasil, a federal financing program aimed at taxi drivers and app drivers, caused a strong movement in electric vehicle concessionaires. BYD was one of the brands with the greatest repercussion: it claimed to have served more than 14.5 thousand professionals on the first day and registered queues in different cities of the country, in some units even before the opening of the stores.
According to the automaker, the volume in the more than 210 dealerships in the network was well above the average for a Friday and represented about 85% of all the day’s calls. Among the models eligible for the program are the Dolphin Mini, starting at R$ 109.990, and the Dolphin GS, starting at R$ 129.990.
The demand was not restricted to the leader in electrified. Geely bet on aggressive prices to expand its share of the segment: the EX2 Pro starts at R$ 99.001 for taxi drivers with tax exemptions and R$ 117.610 for app drivers, while the EX2 Max costs R$ 109.396 and R$ 129.960, respectively. The brand, however, was already facing a waiting list of more than 30 days for delivery in some cities even before the start of the program.
The movement spread throughout the sector. GWM (Ora 03), Renault (Kwid, Kardian and Duster), Fiat, Peugeot, Citroën and Chevrolet also joined Move Brasil with price cuts to fit their models within the ceiling of R$ 150 thousand, intensifying the competition for professional drivers.
Operated by BNDES, Move Brasil Taxi and Apps is a credit line of up to R$ 30 billion created to renew the individual passenger transport fleet with new flex, hybrid or electric vehicles of up to R$ 150 thousand.
Key benefits:
Who can participate:
Registration is done on the gov.br/movebrasil platform, with a response on eligibility within five business days. Once the profile is approved, the driver looks for a qualified dealership to start the credit analysis with the banks accredited to the BNDES.
If the pace of adhesions is maintained, the program tends to accelerate the presence of electric vehicles in transport by application, a segment seen as strategic for the expansion of electromobility in the country.
