British presenter Jeremy Clarkson, former Top Gear star and star of the series Clarkson’s Farm, has revealed that he has been diagnosed with “aggressive” prostate cancer. The information came to light in the final two episodes of the fifth season of the rural reality show, available this week on Prime Video.

At 66, Clarkson tells the diagnosis on stage, when he breaks the news to co-stars Kaleb Cooper and Charlie Ireland, who appear visibly shaken. “I have cancer,” says the presenter, adding that he knew about the disease since May and that it was detected early.

Later on, he details the picture: “The prostate, 10% of it is dead, the 10% where the cancer is.” Clarkson says he intended to finish harvesting on his farm before starting treatment, but that the procedures ended up coinciding with the most intense period of work in the field.

At the end of the season, the presenter appears in a hospital bed and reveals that he has faced complications. “We started season five with me in a hospital bed and here we are at the end of season five, and I’m back in a hospital bed,” he says. He also leaves the future of the show open: “If everything goes well, I’ll see you in season six. If I can’t, I won’t see it.”

Hours before the episodes’ premiere, Clarkson posted a video on Instagram warning that the content would be “a very, very difficult experience” to watch, in contrast to the attraction’s usually light and bucolic tone.

The case reignites the debate about the early detection of prostate cancer. According to the NHS, the UK’s public health system, the disease usually does not present symptoms in the early stages – when they appear, the most common sign is changes in urinary frequency. The British service offers the PSA test to men over 50 years old and recently announced the expansion of screening to higher-risk groups.

Recorded at the Diddly Squat farm in Oxfordshire, Clarkson’s Farm has been following the presenter’s routine as a farmer since 2021. The sixth season is scheduled for 2027.
