GWM Brasil has partnered with the União BR Movement to make vehicles available in natural disaster response operations in the country. The agreement was signed at the Carrera GWM dealership, in São Paulo, alongside the Poer P30 pickup, one of the models that can be used in the actions.
Neither the automaker nor the entity informed how many vehicles will be destined for operations, nor the term of validity of the agreement.
How the drive will work
In the event of a major disaster, the União BR Movement will request the cars from GWM. Based on the assessment of the need and the location of the occurrence, the automaker will call dealerships near the affected area to make the units available.
Logistics is supported by the brand’s network in the country, which totals more than 130 points of sale in more than 50 cities. “The partnership with the União BR Movement allows us to make our structure available for emergency operations,” says Thiago Sugahara, ESG and stakeholder relations manager at GWM Brazil.

In addition to transporting teams, volunteers and supplies, the vehicles can be used as a source of energy in places where infrastructure has been compromised. “These vehicles will also be able to act as energy generators,” says Tatiana Monteiro de Barros, founder and president of the União BR Movement.
According to GWM, the initiative is in line with the brand’s multi-energy concept and may involve different models in the portfolio, depending on the availability and characteristics of each operation.

Who is the União BR
Movement Founded in March 2020, the non-profit organization defines itself as non-partisan and brings together volunteers in all Brazilian states.
According to the entity, it has already benefited more than 33 million people and raised more than R$ 450 million, applied in the purchase of personal protective equipment, food distribution and the creation of hospital beds.
Among the fronts that the entity lists are aid to the Yanomami indigenous people, support for the reconstruction of states affected by heavy rains, such as Rio Grande do Sul, Bahia, Rio de Janeiro, Maranhão and Pernambuco, and the creation of a resource distribution center in Romania for victims of the war in Ukraine.
The work was recognized by the UN as a success story and received the BRICS award for innovative solution in disasters in 2025.

The partnership adds to GWM’s strategy to expand its presence in Brazil, where the Chinese manufacturer produces at the former Mercedes-Benz plant in Iracemápolis, in the interior of São Paulo, and has been expanding its network and portfolio since its commercial debut in the country.
