GWM reduces the price of the Ora 03 by R$149.990 and now costs less than the BYD Dolphin

GWM reduced the price of the Ora 03 in Brazil by R$ 20 thousand. With the cut, applied as a bonus directly on the invoice, the electric hatch drops from R$ 169 thousand to R$ 149.990 and starts to fight on equal terms with the BYD Dolphin, the main rival in the entry-level electric segment.

The new value puts the Ora 03 at the same price level as the Dolphin GS, sold at around R$ 149 thousand, and makes room above it for the recently launched Ora 5, an SUV that debuted for R$ 159 thousand. In practice, GWM reorganizes its own line: the hatch takes over the entry range, while the utility is one step higher.

More than tying in price, the Ora 03 tries to take advantage of the technical sheet. While the entry-level version of the Dolphin works with a more modest power engine, the GWM model bets on a significantly stronger engine and a larger capacity battery. These are arguments that the brand uses to justify the change at the time of the purchase decision.

The reduction is treated by GWM as a promotion. According to the manufacturer, the package includes financing with 60% down payment, balance in up to 48 installments and zero interest rate.

Sold in a single BEV58 version, the Ora 03 is equipped with a 171 hp front electric motor and 25,5 kgfm of torque. The set is powered by a 58 kWh battery, higher than that of the Dolphin GS, and yields a range of up to 420 km in the WLTP cycle or 315 km in the Inmetro standard.

The equipment list remains unchanged. The hatch offers a panoramic sunroof, 15 W induction cell phone charger, photochromic interior rearview mirror and cabin with black finish, in addition to a fully digital panel.

In safety, the model maintains the level 2+ driving assistance package, with seven airbags, 360° camera, blind spot monitoring, traffic sign reading and autonomous emergency braking.

The move comes amid escalating competition between Chinese brands in Brazil, which have been accelerating price cuts to gain space in a booming electric market. Produced at the GWM plant in Iracemápolis, in the interior of São Paulo, the Ora 03 gains with the repositioning an additional asset to face rivals such as the Dolphin itself and expand its share among the entry-level electrified compacts.
