Geely is preparing a new electric compact hatch to expand its presence in the segment and directly rival the BYD Dolphin Mini. The model, which goes by the codename E211, was recently spotted in tests in China and will be smaller and cheaper than the EX2.
The prototype was seen under camouflage, which indicates that the launch will not happen anytime soon. Geely has also not confirmed the name of the new electric. Some sites cite the possibility of the model being called EX1, but for now, this is just speculation.

The shots show a boxy-looking hatch, tall bodywork, straight roof and rounded headlights.
The model will be less than 4 meters long, sitting between the Panda EV and the EX2. The Dolphin Mini measures 3.78 m, while the EX2 is 4.14 m.
Geely has not yet revealed information about the engine or battery options. The sightings, however, show that the new hatch will have rear-wheel drive, just like the EX2. The suspension will be of the multilink type, more sophisticated than the torsion axle used by the Dolphin Mini.
Inside, the prototype features synthetic leather seats with two-tone upholstery. The gear lever is positioned on the steering column, while the center console appears to have the same physical buttons found on the EX2.
This launch is a way for the automaker to become more competitive in the market and catch up with its competitors. The E211 is a more direct rival to the Dolphin Mini, which has an advantage over the EX2 in markets such as Brazil. According to the Brazilian Electric Vehicle Association (ABVE), BYD totaled 51,244 registrations between January and August 2026, against 24,482 for Geely.
