Formula 1 is back for another weekend of activities. This time, the drivers will land on one of the most traditional circuits in the category to compete in the British Grand Prix, at Silverstone. The activities take place between July 3 and 5 and will be held in a sprint format, which has a different schedule from that of a conventional weekend.
On Friday (3), the drivers participated in only one free practice before qualifying for the shorter sprint race, which yields fewer points. Lewis Hamilton was the highlight of the day as he led FP1 and took pole position for the sprint in front of the British crowd. After last weekend, the driver dropped to third place in the championship, now adding 125 points.

The top two positions in the Drivers’ World Championship are occupied by a Mercedes one-two. At the Austrian Grand Prix, George Russell not only took pole, he also won Sunday’s race, closing the gap to his teammate, Kimi Antonelli. Currently, Antonelli leads the championship with 171 points, while Russell appears in second, with 131, a difference of 40 points between the two.
Silverstone usually provides one of the best races of the season, thanks to the long straights, high-speed corners, quick changes of direction and the high aerodynamic demands of the cars. The circuit is also considered one of the main performance tests for teams, who often use it as a benchmark to assess the competitiveness of their projects.
The last race at Silverstone took place last year and ended with an unexpected podium, mainly due to the rainy conditions that marked the British weekend. Despite the Papaya team’s one-two, with Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri in the top two positions, Nico Hülkenberg won his first podium in Formula 1 by finishing third after 239 races.

On Saturday, the drivers will compete in the sprint race, with 17 laps, in preparation for Sunday’s main race, which will be held over 52 laps.
