Ford EcoSport six-wheeler is on sale in the US, and the explanation is stranger than the car

These are strong images: a 2019 Ford EcoSport with six wheels and a stretched rear end is for sale on the auction site Bring a Trailer in the United States. Before anyone asks what went through the owner’s mind, there is a reasonably sensible explanation: the car was built to be a walking billboard .

The modification is the work of the American workshop Kincaid Kustom Kars, which calls the type of project billboard buggy. The idea is to use the elongated side as an advertising panel, renting the space to companies. Q

hen it first appeared on the internet, October 2025, the EcoSport was covered in commercial stickers on the ‘fattened’ C-pillar. Now it reappears without any of them, which leaves the silhouette without any apparent justification.

The history also helps explain how a compact utility vehicle turned this around: the CarFax report records a crash in November 2019, with damage to the front, followed by several salvage title issuances between 2019 and 2025. In plain Portuguese: the car was already in the salvaged scrap category before gaining the third axle.

Shag carpet in the

trunk The added stretch between the second and third axle yielded a generous trunk, lined with shag gray carpet on the walls and floor. The rear also gained a wing and a lid that opens to the side, instead of lifting.

The rest is real EcoSport, and in the most expensive version. The Titanium featured leather seats, a sunroof, an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, Bang & Olufsen sound and 17-inch alloy wheels.

Same engine, more car to push

Under the hood is the aspirated 2.0 Duratec engine with 168 hp and 20,6 kgfm, connected to automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The original ad even informed that it was the 1.0 turbo three-cylinder, which was wrong.

For comparison, a factory EcoSport 2.0, with only four wheels, goes from 0 to 100 km/h in about 10 seconds. With an axle, a body and an extra furry carpet, the number tends to get much worse.

The EcoSport was born in Camaçari (BA) in 2003, became one of the best-selling compact SUVs in the country and was discontinued in 2021, when Ford ended production in Brazil. None of the national versions provided for six wheels.
