The Brazilian automotive market registered, in March, the best performance of the year, with 257,801 vehicles registered. The period marked an unprecedented feat for the national industry: for the first time, a fully electric car, the BYD Dolphin Mini, was among the ten best-selling models in the country. The total volume represents a growth of 45.8% in passenger cars and 20.1% in light commercial vehicles compared to the same month in 2025.
The Dolphin Mini occupied the ninth position overall with 7,053 registrations, surpassing traditional models such as the Hyundai Creta. In February, the subcompact had already achieved another unprecedented feat for an electric car: being the best-selling car in retail — a modality that ignores direct sales, to fleet owners, taxi drivers, companies and others.
In the electric segment, the BYD model was followed by the Dolphin (1,853 units) and the Geely EX2 (1,157). Among hybrids, the competition was fierce: the GWM Haval H6 maintained the lead with 3,082 sales, just 18 units ahead of the BYD Song Pro.

Fiat Strada leader again

In the overall ranking, the Fiat Strada maintained the isolated leadership with 16,706 registrations, followed by the Volkswagen Polo (11,051) and Chevrolet Onix (10,182). Among the SUVs, the Volkswagen Tera consolidated itself as the best seller of the month, with 7,977 units, securing the fifth position in the overall calculation and surpassing the Hyundai HB20.
Another highlight was the Caoa Chery Tiggo 5X, which jumped from 207 registrations in February to 5,007 in March after its recent update. In the pickup sector, Fiat Toro (5,091) and Volkswagen Saveiro (4,877) completed the podium behind Strada. The increase in sales in March reflects both the renewal of corporate fleets and the greater acceptance of new technologies by the Brazilian consumer.
