The boundary between pickup and luxury residence blurs in the EarthRoamer XV-SX. Mounted on a Chevrolet Silverado 6500HD, the vehicle is not just a means of transport for difficult terrain: it is a self-sufficient house on wheels, designed for those who do not give up domestic comfort miles from civilization. And there is a detail that makes the case even more peculiar: this unit, a 2023 example already with about 13.240 km on the clock, is for sale for US$ 1,1 million, or about R$ 5,7 million.

Inside, the resemblance to a compact apartment is immediate. The Mount Princeton interior design, applied to this unit, features oak furniture (Woodland Timber Oak finish), kitchen with two-burner induction cooktop, custom-made dish racks and even a Keurig coffee maker, a cheap and ubiquitous model in the United States, curiously displayed as an attraction of a millionaire vehicle. The owner also has a set of washing machine and dryer, a luxury item even in many conventional homes, and a full bathroom, with toilet and standing shower. The sleeping space, on an upper level accessible by a staircase, reinforces the feeling of a private bedroom, isolated from the rest of the structure.

Unlike motorhomes that are restricted to asphalt, this house on wheels was made for exploration. EarthRoamer has occupied a peculiar niche for years, at the point where luxury motorhomes, expedition vehicles and heavy-duty pickup trucks overlap. The ruggedness of the Silverado 6500HD allows you to take all these amenities to trails and remote areas. To reinforce the adventurous vocation, the XV-SX comes with front and rear Warn winches, a storage system in the rear bumper, a sliding rack in the garage area and even an outdoor gas grill. There is also a FLIR infrared camera, a front camera and a GOST security system to monitor the vehicle when parked.
All this experience of living on wheels has a cost that is commensurate with comfort. For the asking price, it would be possible to buy a fleet of heavy, zero-kilometer trucks, a super sports car, and there would still be money left over, and even so it is a used one, with more than 13 thousand km on the odometer, offered by EarthRoamer’s own used car program. Whether anyone will actually pay the amount is anyone’s guess; At the top of the overlanding world, though, accounts like this have stopped scaring for some time.
