Sales phenomenon or lack of components? Understand why the Japanese utility has become the hardest "darling" to find in stores
Six months after its official launch in November 2025, the Toyota Yaris Cross maintains strong demand pressure in the Brazilian market. The compact SUV, which consolidated the brand’s entry into a new level of affordable electrification, still registers waiting lines that can reach 90 days in several regions of the country.
The scenario is more rigorous in centers such as São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais and Bahia. In these markets, hybrid variants have become rare items in showrooms, being intended almost exclusively for the fulfillment of orders already invoiced. On the other hand, configurations equipped only with combustion engines have greater fluidity of inventory, with deadlines ranging from prompt delivery to 30 days.

The top-of-the-line XRE and XRX versions, equipped with hybrid technology, are the most disputed. The average waiting time of 60 to 90 days is the rule for buyers looking for items such as a sunroof, 360° camera and paintings in two-tone tones. According to data from Fenabrave, the model accumulated 4,471 registrations by March 2026. In an official statement, Toyota said that the volume of orders exceeded expectations and that production has been adjusted to reduce bottlenecks.

The line has five versions, with prices between R$ 151.990 (exclusive for the PCD public) and R$ 189.990. In the purely combustion variants, the SUV uses the 1.5 flex engine with 122 hp and 15,4 kgfm, coupled to the CVT automatic transmission. The hybrid set, on the other hand, combines a 1.5-liter engine with an electric motor, delivering 111 hp of combined power, which positions it as one of the most economical models in the current segment.
With this strategy, the Yaris Cross serves both those looking for a conventional utility vehicle and those who prioritize energy efficiency, a factor that explains the persistence of queues even after the initial period of novelty in the market.
